湖北と近江八幡の旅 備忘録（１

恒例の旧友たちとのGW旅行。今年は湖北と近江八幡へ。.
午前中に長浜到着。レンタカーを借りてまずは向源寺（渡岸寺観音堂）へ。
観音堂に行くまでに収蔵館があって、各所から集められた平安仏などが並んでいる。
上野や八重洲にあった長浜観音堂でお会いした記憶のある仏像にも再会。
渡岸寺十一面館音は展覧会で観ただけでお寺で観るのははじめて。
お堂には中央に一体だけが展示されていて四方から観られるのでとても観やすい。
あまりの迫力に美術館で観る時には感じられない怖れを感じる。
白山信仰の祖、泰澄によって建立されたと伝わるが、
白山信仰の山の神である十一面観音の諸像とは全く印象が異なる。
肉感的で生めかしく、唐の金銅佛の印象に近い。
円仁に関わる造像とする説があるらしい。

We arrived in Nagahama in the morning. We rented a car and visited Kogenji Temple (Toganji Kannon Hall) first.
On the way to the Kannon Hall, there was a museum with Heian Buddhas collected from various places.
I also saw a Buddha statue that I remember seeing at Nagahama Kannon Hall in Ueno and Yaesu.
I have only seen the Toganji Eleven-Headed Kannon at an exhibition, but this is the first time I have seen it at a temple.
Only one statue was displayed in the center of the hall, so it is easy to see from all sides.
It is so powerful that I feel a sense of fear that I don't feel when I see it at a museum.
It is said to have been built by Taicho, the founder of Hakusan faith, but the impression is completely different from the various statues of the Eleven-Headed Kannon, the mountain god of Hakusan faith.
It is voluptuous and raw, and is close to the impression of Tang Dynasty gilt bronze Buddhas.
